Examples
AEON Mall Ogaki
When I had a solo exhibition at AEON Mall Ogaki, there were many people there with children, so I was requested to hold a workshop as well, and so I held a workshop using only recycled materials.
I received wood and other waste materials from a construction company to create the base of the heart, cut out the word "LOVE" from discarded items such as empty boxes and milk cartons, and used crayons collected by a company that runs a recycled crayon project to fill in the cut-out letters with crayon, and together we created a large MojiBa®︎ work.
During the workshop, the children who participated learned that what was once "garbage" could be transformed into "something fun to make," and they also got to know the companies that cooperated with them.
A television crew came to cover the workshop, and both the children and their parents who participated said they learned something through art.
Niconico School
Niko Niko school operates under the concept of "providing a place for children to find healing and energy, and helping them achieve peace of mind and learning," and also places importance on experiential activities.
I was asked to experience the idea of expressing ourselves freely through art in the way we want to! A company that handles materials for making signs was disposing of oversized acrylic sheets, so I received them, processed them, and used environmentally friendly crayons to paint on the smooth material.
I saw children who are usually not good at talking express themselves freely through art, and I also learned about the environment as I explained how waste items come about.
Regardless of whether they could draw well or not, the children were able to experience "fun," "a free world," and "everyone is different and everyone is good" through art, and they were all smiling.
